Biography
- Born in Auckland 21st September 1937.
- Educated at St. Michael's Primary school, Remuera; St. Peter's College (Christian Brothers), Auckland; Holy Name Seminary, Christchurch; and Holy Cross College, Mosgiel.
- Ordained in St. Patrick's Cathedral, Auckland by Archbishop James Liston on 30th June 1962.
- Appointments held since ordination: Gisborne parish 1963 - 1967; Papatoetoe parish 1968 - 1971; Remuera parish 1972 - 1974; Tonga (Nukualofa, Houma,`Eva) 1975 - 1977
- Ordained Bishop of Rarotonga at St. Patrick's Cathedral, Auckland on 29th June, 1977; Cook Islands and Niue 1977 - 1983.
- Installed as Bishop of Auckland Diocese on 24 August 1983
- Installed as Bishop of Hamilton Diocese 1994.
- President, New Zealand Catholic Bishops Conference
- Conference Deputy for: Liturgyand ICEL
- Member of the Executive Committee of the Federation of Catholic Bishops Conferences of Oceania.
- Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit 2001
