Biography

• Born in Wellington
• Educated by Brigidine Sisters and later by Marist Fathers at St Patrick's College, Silverstream.
• Holds a Masters' degree in history and classics at Canterbury University
• Studied for priesthood at the Marist seminary at Greenmeadows. Ordained in 1958
• After sixteen years in Samoa was elected Provincial of the Society of Mary for the Pacific region, based in Fiji
• Appointed Bishop of the Cooks and Niue in 1983
• Returned to New Zealand in 1997
• Assistant Bishop and Vicar General in the Diocese of Auckland
• Conference Deputy for: Caritas Aotearoa, Canon Law Commission, Mahitahi Catholic Overseas Volunteers, Commission for Mission, Mixed Commission
